1705

A fishing tradition begins

In the Edo period, the Fukuichi family begins its livelihood from the seas, with skipjack and tuna at the heart of the craft.

1904

Built the skipjack boat Taijin-Maru

The first dedicated company-owned skipjack vessel marks the move from artisanal to industrial-scale fishing.

1954

Fukuichi-Maru No.1, first with onboard freezing

Built at the port of Yaizu with a frozen system — a defining innovation that established Fukuichi's reputation for quality.

1964

Fukuichi Fishery Co., Ltd. established

The family business is incorporated, soon opening the Fukuichi Fishery Head Office in the Taijin Building.

1974

Overseas purse seine fishing begins

The Fukuichi-Maru is completed and embarks for Southern oceans, beginning a decades-long expansion across the world's seas.

1996

Annual sales exceed ¥20 billion

A milestone reflecting sustained growth across fishery, processing, sales, and direct retail.

2015

FNC Cold Storage · ISO 22000 & HACCP

Fukuichi Nishijima Cold Storage opens with ultra-low-temperature freezing, and ISO 22000 and HACCP food-safety systems are certified.

2016

EU HACCP and BRC Global Standard

Expanded certifications enable Fukuichi to handle seafood for export to the most demanding markets worldwide.

2023

Fukuichi-Maru No.81 completed

The third large overseas purse seine vessel joins the fleet, supporting continued operations in the central and western Pacific.

2024

MSC certification & two national awards

MSC Fishery Certification obtained for longline-caught bigeye, yellowfin, and albacore tuna — alongside two Director-General's Awards from the Fisheries Agency.

Four overseas purse seine vessels carry the Fukuichi mark across the central and western Pacific. Each voyage lasts 30 to 40 days, focused on tuna and skipjack.
